E, I ,Y often changes the sound of consonants C, G, and S.

Watch out for these 3 vowels, they often change the sounds of these consonants.

  • The letter C will change to its soft sound,

/s/ when followed by the vowels E, I, or Y.

  • The letter G will often change to its soft sound,

/j/ when followed by the vowels E, I, or Y.

  • The letter S may change to its noisy sound,
